OUR HISTORY
Along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan stands Manistee—an unassuming town defined by water, discipline, and a quiet standard of excellence. Beginning in 1928, it became a place where boats were not assembled, but crafted—by hand, by artisans, and without compromise. As with many great traditions, time intervened. By 1987, the last molds were set aside, and a once-proud boatbuilding heritage fell silent.
But legacies do not disappear. They wait.
In 2019, the craft returned—guided by decades of experience, a shared philosophy, and a belief that true luxury is built, not rushed. From this revival, Thoroughbred Boat Company was born, reestablishing Manistee as a destination for discerning owners who value design integrity, performance, and enduring quality.
